(Key Facts)

Minna Canth (1844–1897), a Finnish author and social activist, was one of the most significant European feminists and advocates of women's rights.[97][98][99][100][101]

Three women sitting around a small table, one sewing, one drinking a cup of what is possibly tea. All three are drawn to look almost horrific. The third woman looks as if she has two heads, but it may be that there are four women. The women's heads do not look like they are comfortable on their bodies. The colors are dark red, black, brown, and almond.

Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States, as well as the first woman on the UK Medical Register.
Finland's first female ministers were brought to Finnish Parliament shortly after the turn of the 20th century.[242]

Physicians are willing to perform abortions where they are pronounced necessary, but they refuse to direct the use of preventives which would make the abortions unnecessary... "I can't do it – the law does not permit it.""[204]

Belém do Pará Convention, Maputo Protocol and Istanbul Convention participation combined. Signed and ratified Acceded or succeeded Only signed Not signed Not a member state of the AU, CoE or OAS[275]

Frequently Asked Questions

"And the villain still pursues her." Satirical Victorian era postcard.
