約7ヶ月の航行を経て、2018年11月26日にエリュシオン平原へ無事着陸しました。この地点は、地質学的に比較的平坦で、内部構造の調査に最適な場所として選ばれました。

運用と終焉

着陸後、InSightは計画されていた2年という期間を大幅に超え、約4年間にわたってデータを送り続けました。しかし、火星特有の塵(ダスト)が太陽電池パネルに蓄積し、発電量が低下したため、2022年12月に正式に運用を終了しました。
