家族の絆と母としての顔

皇后としての活動と「ロシアの守護天使」

激動の時代:第一次世界大戦と革命

夫の死後、太后となったマリア・フョードロヴナは、次第に国外で過ごす時間を増やしました。特に姉のアレクサンドラ女王がいたイギリスとの交流を深め、自由主義的な考えを持つようになります。

1914年に第一次世界大戦が勃発すると、彼女はイギリスからロシアへ急いで帰国しました。戦時中は赤十字社の総裁を務め、衛生列車の資金調達を行うなど、国を挙げての支援活動に従事しました。

しかし、1917年のロシア革命によりロマノフ王朝は崩壊します。彼女は当初、ロシアを離れることを拒みましたが、1919年にイギリスの支援を受けて、戦艦マールボロ号でクリミアから脱出しました。これにより、彼女のロシアでの生活は幕を閉じました。

晩年と永遠の眠り
